Paper Tiger Dives into a Season Swap for Getting Organized

Today is officially the first day of summer, and time for getting organized for all the summer activities. While there are four seasons, a season swap occurs twice a year; the transition from cold to hot weather and vice versa. It’s time to pull out bathing suits, warm weather toys and the grill among other things that have been stashed away all winter.

The arrival of summer also means that winter storage clean up and clean out needs to take place (if you haven’t already done so). Three simple steps alongside Paper Tiger Filing System Software for document management make this season swap easy for the entire family.

With no more brisk spring mornings, all your winter coats, mittens, and other winter items should be stored away by now. Tackling this project can be quite overwhelming, but we’ve broken it down into three components for getting organized; sort winter items, index into Paper Tiger Filing System Software, store away.

3 Steps for Getting Organized for Season Swaps

  1. Sort Winter Items – Gather all your winter gear (this includes shirts, boots, pants, scarfs, etc.) and make sure you have them in one place. Sort your clothes from sleds, and other snow paraphernalia. This is a great time to get rid of some clutter. If you find items that you didn’t use last winter or clothes that you didn’t wear, this is a good time to throw these items away or donate them.
  2. Index with Paper Tiger – Now that you’ve sorted your items, you can begin to put them into Paper Tiger. First you will need to ensure you have some boxes or storage containers to put all the items in. Simply catalog or index all of your various items into Paper Tiger’s database to coincide with which box or container you have the items in, and label the container to match Paper Tiger’s Item Number. For example, in your Paper Tiger database you would input Winter Clothes or Box one, and keywords would be the contents of the box. When you need to find these items, Paper Tiger’s search box can tell you exactly which container the item you are looking for is located.
  3. Store Items – Now that you’ve sorted, cleared out excessive items, and indexed in Paper Tiger, you can put your physical items in the place of your choice. You can store your items in the garage, closet or attic. When Winter approaches again, you can search Paper Tiger for the exact location of your favorite coat or snow skis to promptly find your item.

These three simple steps will help you have a smooth transition from cold to warm weather. Not only will you be organized and know exactly where your winter items are, you will get rid of some clutter as well. Paper Tiger Filing System Software is easy to use and will help you in getting organized through the season swap. Happy organizing!

I’m a long time fan of Paper Tiger. Now, I’d like to put it to use for the first time. I am moving apartments and I’d like to index my items as I box them up.

My question is how do easily take pictures, label, and designate locations for non-document items?

    Thank you,
    Gabe B.
